September 2026 is the first full month of Twilight Trails, and Pokemon GO's event schedule for the season opener is dense. If you play seriously, you'll want a plan before the month runs out.

That's what this Pokemon GO September 2026 guide is for. Below you'll find every confirmed event, the rewards worth chasing, and the practical steps to get the most out of each one.

Every Monday also brings Max Mondays and the Weekly Challenge, and Wednesdays still hold Raid Hour. None of that stops for the bigger events.

Step 1: Plan around the Staraptor Super Mega Raid Day on September 19

September 19 is where Twilight Trails gets interesting. Mega Staraptor makes its Pokemon GO debut in Super Mega Raids from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Super Mega Raids are the new tier above standard Mega Raids, and they demand real coordination because they may only appear at certain Gyms.

The important thing is the new Mega Level: Super Max. Mega Staraptor is the first Pokemon that can be pushed past Max Level to Super Max, and the payoff is an extra Charged Attack while Mega Evolved. Staraptor gets Brave Bird+, which lands at 70 power in Trainer Battles with a three-stage Defense drop on the user, and 150 power in raids. The attack scales with Mega Level, so the ceiling is higher than a normal Mega.

    1. Check the Pokemon GO Map before you head out to see which Gyms have Super Mega Raids.

    2. Gather a group of trainers. These fights aren't solo-friendly.

    3. Spin Gym Photo Discs for up to six free Raid Passes during the three-hour window.

    4. Expect the Shiny chance on Staraptor to be boosted. Staraptor caught from Super Mega Raids also comes with Mega Level 1 unlocked.

Remote Raid passes get a lift too. The remote limit rises to 20 from Friday, September 18 at 5:00 p.m. through Saturday, September 19 at 8:00 p.m. PDT, which is your window to farm from the couch if local Gyms are thin. A US$4.99 event ticket adds 14 Raid Passes, more Rare Candy XL, and 5,000 bonus XP and Stardust per Super Mega Raid. The ticket is worth it only if you're committing the full three hours.

Step 2: Farm the Harvest Festival 2026 before the month ends

The Pokemon GO event schedule closes September with Harvest Festival 2026: Applin Picking, running September 29 at 10:00 a.m. to October 5 at 8:00 p.m. local time. The centerpiece is the Pokemon GO debut of Shiny Applin, and you can evolve it through Flapple, Appletun, Dipplin, and Hydrapple. There's also a boosted Shiny chance for Smoliv, which quietly makes this one of the better Shiny hunts of the season.

The mechanic here is apples. Mossy Lure Modules only attract apples during the event, and tapping them gives Tart Apples, Sweet Apples, Syrupy Apples, or encounters with event Pokemon like Flower Crown Cottonee and Applin. Wild spawns include Skwovet, Lechonk, Smoliv, and Applin if you get lucky.

The branching Timed Research is the part to think about. You pick one of three paths and that decides which apples you receive. There's no wrong answer, but the path determines which evolution line you can push fastest, so pick before you start burning Mossy Lures.

    1. Claim the free GO Pass: Harvest Festival automatically on September 29.

    2. Complete Pass Tasks to rank up and earn the tiered bonuses.

    3. Choose your Timed Research path early so your apple rewards line up with your target evolution.

    4. Claim every unlocked GO Pass reward by October 7 at 8:00 p.m. local. They expire.

GO Pass Deluxe costs US$4.99 for extra rewards and faster progression, with a US$6.99 option that skips you to Rank 7. The free track already includes a Mossy Lure Module and a Super Rocket Radar, so the paid upgrade is mostly about speed.

Step 3: Use Catch Mastery and Spotlight Hours to fill gaps

Not every September event needs a three-hour block. Catch Mastery: Phantump on September 26 runs 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local, a full eight hours, and it's built around precise throws. Phantump appears in Field Research and free Timed Research, and you'll want to slow down and aim rather than fast-catch everything.

Spotlight Hours run 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on their dates and are the cheapest way to top up resources.

    • September 10: Weedle, Kakuna, and Beedrill with 2x Transfer Candy.
    • September 13: a bonus Houndour Spotlight Hour tied to Mega Squads, also 2x Transfer Candy.
    • September 17: Charmander wearing Friede's goggles with 2x Catch Stardust.
    • September 24: Rattata with 2x Evolution XP and a boosted XXS Rattata chance.

The Rattata one is worth a note. XXS and XXL Pokemon don't change CP or IVs, so don't burn resources chasing them for stats. They only count toward size-based Pokedex records. If you don't care about that entry, the 2x Evolution XP is the real draw and the reason to hold onto a stack of Pokemon you've been meaning to evolve for weeks.

Step 4: Keep up with raids, Max Mondays, and the GO Battle League

Raids rotate on a fixed cadence through the month, and the Pokemon GO raid lineup for September 2026 is stacked. Five-star raids move from the Regi Trio (September 7-8) to Zacian (September 9-15), then Zamazenta (September 16-22), then the regional trio of Xurkitree, Pheromosa, and Buzzwole (September 23-29), and finally Xerneas from September 30. The regional split matters: Xurkitree is Asia-Pacific, Pheromosa covers Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India, and Buzzwole is the Americas. Remote raids still work across regions.

Mega Raids follow their own track, cycling through Mega Beedrill, Mega Houndoom, Mega Venusaur, Mega Malamar, and Mega Victreebel. Shadow Thundurus (Incarnate Forme) holds down Five-Star Shadow Raids from September 9 through October 6, which is a long enough window that you don't need to rush it.

Max Mondays land every Monday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. local, with the featured Dynamax Pokemon staying available for the rest of the week. Dynamax Rhyhorn debuts on September 14, and the Kanto legendary birds (Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres) take September 21. Weekly Challenges also run every Monday from 6:00 p.m. PDT, letting groups of four earn friendship points and Tandemaus encounters.

If PvP is your thing, the GO Battle League shifts format weekly: Mega Editions of Great, Ultra, and Master League early in the month, then the Willpower Cup (Fighting, Psychic, and Dark only, with Gardevoir, Zorua, and Zoroark banned), then the Retro Cup, then the Mega Color Cup. Retro Cup and Mega Color Cup both pay 4x Stardust from win rewards, which is the fastest Stardust in the schedule.

Pro Tips for surviving the Pokemon GO September 2026 calendar

The month rewards planning more than grinding, so a few habits go a long way.

    • Bank your evolutions in advance. Keep a stable of Gible and Gabite caught before September 12 so you can evolve on the spot during Community Day Classic.
    • Check Gym locations before Raid Day. Super Mega Raids don't spawn everywhere, so a five-minute map check saves a wasted trip.
    • Save Pinap Berries for the Spotlight Hours you actually need. Transfer Candy and Evolution XP events are the best use of them.
    • Don't buy every ticket. The Gible Special Research, the Staraptor ticket, and GO Pass Deluxe all cost money. Pick the one whose reward you'll genuinely use.
    • Set a reminder for October 7. Unclaimed GO Pass rewards from Harvest Festival vanish after that date.

Troubleshooting common Pokemon GO event problems

Even a well-planned month runs into snags. Here's what usually goes wrong and how to handle it.

    • Events aren't showing up in-game. New season content needs the current app version, and the Twilight Trails rollout started September 8. Update from your app store, then force-close and reopen the app so the event flags refresh.
    • Super Mega Raids aren't appearing locally. This isn't a bug. Super Mega Raids may only spawn at certain Gyms, and low-traffic areas can sit empty. Use the Pokemon GO Map to find active ones, or lean on Remote Raids during the increased-limit window.
    • Timed Research expired before you finished. Timed Research doesn't carry over. The Harvest Festival path and the Staraptor research both have hard end dates, and the Staraptor ticket is only purchasable until September 19 at 5:00 p.m. local. Start these early in their windows, not the final evening.
    • Community Day Shiny rates feel low. Classic Community Days boost Shiny odds, but they're still odds. Lure-heavy routes and the extended Lure window until 9:00 p.m. give you more encounters per hour than wandering.
    • Missed the free Raid Passes. Gym Photo Discs reset daily, and the bonus passes only drop from spinning Gyms during the event window. Plan your route to pass several Gyms rather than one.

One last housekeeping note on safety. Pokemon GO asks for location permissions, and that data is what makes the map work, so review your device's permission settings if you're reinstalling. Skip any third-party tracker or spoofing app you see advertised around event weekends. They break the terms of service and put your account at genuine risk. Stick to the official app and you'll never have to worry about it.

September's calendar is generous, but it's also busy enough that scattered play leaves rewards on the table. Pick your two or three priorities, whether that's the Gible evolution, the Mega Staraptor debut, or the Shiny Applin hunt, and build the rest of the month around them.

For long-time trainers and newcomers alike, the app is the same one you already know, and staying updated means you catch every bonus without hunting for patches mid-event. Download the newest version from APKPure, get your September routes mapped out, and treat the first big weekend as a test run for the rest of the season rather than the whole show.
