Clash of Clans August 31 Update: TH18 Pet Levels, Supercharges, and More

2026-09-01
Clash of Clans' August 2026 update adds Diggy levels 11-15 for TH18, new Builder's Hut and Monolith supercharges, and more.
Clash of Clans is a real time strategy game that combines village development with tactical battles.
The Clash of Clans August 31 update isn't the kind of drop that rewrites the whole game. It's a gap-filler, and Supercell is upfront about that. Still, there's real stuff here for Town Hall 18 players. Diggy is the only pet getting new levels, and it now tops out at 15. The Builder's Hut and Monolith both pick up fresh supercharge levels. Ruin Witch armies get a straight buff, the Starter Pass is gone for good, and a few small quality-of-life fixes quietly smooth out the daily grind. If you sit near max TH18 or your clan fights in Titan League, this is the CoC update you need at least a skim of. Everyone else can mostly move on.
Before we dig in, here's the short version of what changed:
| Category | What changed |
|---|---|
| TH18 Pet | Diggy Levels 11-15 |
| Supercharge | Builder's Hut and Monolith new levels |
| Clan War League | Titan I-III modifier shifts |
| Troops | Ruin Witch and Ruin Knight buffs |
| Early progression | Starter Pass retired, season access at TH3 |
| Quality of life | Wall Rings, Revive Spell, Hero Journey, end screen |
Not a single new building, hero, or pet. This patch extends what's already there.
Diggy Levels 11-15: The Only TH18 Pet Change in Clash of Clans
If you were hoping for a brand-new pet, bad luck. The only Clash of Clans TH18 pet change this time is Diggy, and it's not even a TH18 original. Diggy's been around since Town Hall 15, where its job is to interfere with defenses alongside a hero rather than pile on raw damage. That role has always made it more of an army-specific pick than a must-level pet.
Now Diggy can go from Level 10 up to Level 15, and all five new levels sit at Town Hall 18. It's a meaningful bump, but don't read it as a sign Diggy is suddenly the best pet in the game. The real question is whether you already run an army where Diggy does a consistent job.
You should probably prioritize Diggy if it already shows up in your main war army, or if the hero it rides with is one you lean on constantly. If Diggy mostly sits unused while your other pets and heroes still need work, put the Dark Elixir elsewhere. The new levels are Clash of Clans Town Hall 18 Pet content in name, sure, but they're a luxury upgrade, not a rush.
New Clash of Clans Supercharge Levels: Builder's Hut and Monolith
Supercharges are the endgame money sink for maxed buildings. Once a building hits its top level, you can spend extra resources to push it further for a while. The Clash of Clans supercharge system already covered 16 buildings at TH18, so this patch is mostly about giving maxed villages two more places to keep spending. This update adds two more: the Builder's Hut and the Monolith.
The Monolith is the obvious pick if you care about raw defense. It's a high-impact single-target building, so a supercharge there hits harder than most. The Builder's Hut is sneakier. Its value depends on how much repair and defensive presence it adds to your specific layout.
What order should you go in? Finish critical permanent upgrades first. Keep heroes and the lab moving. Then treat supercharges as a place to dump excess resources once your core is already strong. Don't interrupt a big permanent upgrade just to start a new supercharge. Simple as that.
Titan CWL Modifier Changes in Clash of Clans
Clan War League gets a small but real shake-up in the Titan tiers. The battle modifiers (the rule sets that tweak how wars play) now map differently:
- Titan I: Legend I modifier becomes Legend II
- Titan II: Legend II modifier becomes Legend III
- Titan III: Legend II modifier becomes Legend III
Supercell says the point is to make modifiers rise more naturally as clans climb, rather than having them stall or jump around unpredictably between tiers. Legend league itself is untouched. So if your clan sits in Legend, nothing changes for you. If you fight around Titan, check the modifier details in-game before your next war. The prep you've been doing might now be tuned for the wrong tier.
Clash of Clans Ruin Witch and Ruin Knight Buffs
Ruin Witch armies got two clean buffs, both worth knowing if you've abandoned the army out of frustration.
First, Ruin Knights no longer lose health over time. That decay used to quietly cap how long a summoned Knight stayed useful, even when nothing was shooting at it. Now a Knight that survives stays relevant.
Second, Ruin Witch can field up to 10 Ruin Knights, up from 8. More summoned pressure, plain and simple.
Does this make Ruin Witch the new meta? Too early to say. The changes clearly help the army, and players who dropped it because Knights melted too fast have a specific reason to try again. But it doesn't automatically beat every established TH18 strategy. Test it before you rebuild your whole attacking lineup around it.
Clash of Clans Retires the Starter Pass
This is the biggest structural change, and it's aimed at new accounts, not maxed villages. The Starter Pass is gone. If you're already midway through one, you can still finish it, but the system is being folded into the normal seasonal structure.
Going forward, Season Challenges start at Town Hall 3, and the Gold Pass can be bought from TH3 too. Rewards from both now scale with your Town Hall level. That last part matters. A level 20 village doesn't need anything close to the resource payout a TH18 account burns through in a single day, and handing both of them the same track would warp the early game. Scaling keeps it sensible.
New players now land in the real seasonal system much earlier, instead of learning a temporary Starter Pass and then migrating later. Makes the whole early game cleaner. Good change.
Clash of Clans Quality-of-Life Changes
The small stuff in this patch might actually be what you notice most day-to-day.
- Wall Rings no longer need a free Builder. That's a quiet but lovely fix. During heavy farming, every Builder is busy, and being unable to spend a Wall-specific Magic Item until one freed up was just annoying. Now you can use the ring the moment you want to.
- The Revive Spell can now target a fallen hero's icon directly. In a crowded attack, finding the exact spot a hero dropped can be a pain under all the troops and spell effects. Tapping the icon removes that hunt.
- The end-of-battle screen is cleaner too, with a new layout, a victory banner, and clearer loot and bonus info. Hero Journey tasks get a real fix as well. If a task normally demanded Epic Equipment you don't own, it can now offer an alternative using the same hero's default Common Equipment. That unblocks newer accounts who were stuck on a Hero Journey objective through no fault of their own.
One bug fix has a deadline attached. Some Hero Journey nodes weren't unlocking correctly. Affected players can now open the Hero Journey menu and claim missed rewards, but you've got seven days to do it. Hero skins are excluded from that timer and stay claimable. Worth a quick check even if you're not touching the TH18 content.

Clash of Clans August Update: The Bottom Line
For most players, the August update is a solid but quiet one. Maxed TH18 players get Diggy Levels 11-15 and two fresh supercharges to sink resources into. Competitive clans around Titan need to re-check their war prep. Ruin Witch players get a genuinely stronger army. And everyone else gets a handful of small fixes that make the everyday stuff feel less fiddly.
If any of that applies to you, update the game and get moving. If none of it does, you're not missing much, and you can always grab the latest Clash of Clans APK when the next big drop lands.
