Bandai Namco released DIGIMON UP on July 15, 2026, and fans of the franchise have a real reason to return to the Digital World. DIGIMON UP is a game focused on raising, collecting, and evolving Digimon, with a much more leisurely approach than what the mobile market typically offers.

If you grew up with a Digivice in your hand or simply like the idea of a collection game without the pressure of leaderboards, this release is for you. It's available for free on Android and iOS, and you can download the Digimon Up APK now from APKPure.

How Digimon breeding works in DIGIMON UP

The core of DIGIMON UP isn't the battles. It's the nurturing. You choose a Digimon, feed it, train it, and guide it through its entire evolutionary line, from the growth stage to the Ultra (Mega) form. There are no shortcuts or speed-ups to skip stages. The pace is set by daily care.

Each Digimon has its own branching evolutionary path. The decisions you make when feeding or training it influence which form it reaches. It's not a linear tree with a single destination. An Agumon can end up as WarGreymon or take a completely different route depending on how you raise it. This gives the game an element of experimentation that V-Pets fans will instantly recognize.

The evolution animations use pixel art sprites drawn from scratch specifically for this game. They are not reused from previous titles. The result is a visual style reminiscent of classic Digivice games, but with much more detail and expressiveness. Each Digimon has its own unique attack animation, resting pose, and evolutionary transitions.

DIGIMON UP: Turn-based combat with a squad system

The combat system follows a turn-based format with an interesting mechanic: you form a squad with a main Digimon and a support partner. The main Digimon carries the bulk of the combat, while the secondary Digimon provides reinforcement abilities, healing, or combo attacks.

This duo structure forces you to think in terms of synergy. It's not enough to have the strongest Digimon. You need a partner that complements its weaknesses. An offensive Digimon with low defense needs support that can heal it or absorb damage. The variety of possible combinations grows with each new Digimon you add to your collection.

The game's abilities are based on the Digimon Trading Card Game system. Instead of a generic list of attacks, each Digimon has ability cards that define what it can do in combat. This adds a strategic layer that isn't immediately apparent but makes all the difference in later battles.

    DIGIMON UP: Digimon available

Bandai Namco hasn't released an official figure for the total number of Digimon at launch, but what's been shown so far includes the classic first-generation Digimon: Agumon, Gabumon, Biyomon, Tentomon, Palmon, Gomamon, and Patamon, along with several complete evolutionary lines for each. The game's structure makes it clear that the roster will grow with regular updates.

What sets DIGIMON UP apart from other collection games in the franchise is that you don't summon Digimon using a traditional gacha system. You obtain them by progressing through the game, completing daily missions, and using specific items. The focus is on breeding, not spinning a roulette wheel.

DIGIMON UP: Integration with the Digimon ecosystem

The game connects with several classic elements of the franchise. The menu designs, evolution sounds, and skill visual effects are direct nods to the original Digivices. It also incorporates references to the Digimon Trading Card Game (DTCG), both in the skill visuals and in some secondary modes.

Where does this integration shine brightest? In the daily care system. Feeding your Digimon, cleaning its environment, and training it replicate the experience of having a V-Pet, but adapted to the mobile screen. Notifications alert you when your Digimon needs attention, reinforcing the feeling of constant companionship that Bandai Namco promised when it unveiled the game at Digimon Con.
