Free Fire OB55 Update Patch: New Weapons, Water Horse, and Naruto's Return

Lynda Sumner

Free Fire OB55 is live. Here's what changed, what arrives on September 16 and how to use the new weapons, Water Horse, Havoc Skill Cards, and Naruto events.

Free Fire OB55 landed on September 16, 2026, and it's the heaviest update the game has seen this year. If you've been away since the 9th Anniversary patch, this guide walks you through what changed, what to grab first, and how to actually use the new tools without feeding your squad's rating.

A Naruto Shippuden returns with the Nine Tails map event, seven new weapons split across two release waves, a Water Horse mount, and Battle Royale: Havoc with Skill Cards. Some of it ships the moment you update. Some of it waits until October 1, when the next Clash Squad season starts. That split trips up a lot of players, so we'll mark it clearly.

Free Fire OB55 Release Date and What Ships When

The patch went live on September 16, 2026, replacing OB54. Free Fire MAX players get the same version. If you haven't updated yet, the client prompts you on next launch, or you can pull the latest build from APKPure.

Here's the part people get wrong: not everything in the official patch notes goes live on day one. Garena published the notes on September 10, and the weapon rebalance plus the four new weapons arrive with the next Clash Squad season on October 1. The Naruto content, airdrop changes, device rework, and battle royale features are active now.

Hidden Leaf Village, Nine Tails event September 16, 2026

    Kenta rework, Morse/Luna/Wukong tuning September 16, 2026
Skorp, M7, RPK, Hawk weapons October 1, 2026
Full weapon class rebalance October 1, 2026

That table is your planning sheet. If your goal this cycle is climbing Clash Squad, the October 1 wave matters more than the launch content.

Free Fire OB55 New Weapons: What Each One Does

Four weapons headline the October 1 drop, and all four use a new recoil model. Instead of the old bullet-spread system, these guns pull your aim upward as you hold the trigger. Control the climb and you land clean shots. Ignore it and your third round is in the sky.

    • Skorp is an SMG built around a high fire rate and armor penetration. It stays dangerous into the late game, which is unusual for a close-range SMG.
    • M7 is a fully automatic assault rifle with high damage and solid accuracy. Good for mid-to-long-range duels if you can ride the recoil.
    • RPK is a light machine gun that borrows assault rifle mobility. Machine gun power, rifle handling.
    • Hawk is a sniper that carries only two rounds but fires fast. Landing both shots in quick succession can drop an enemy in low-tier armor.

Seven weapons were seen during Advance Server testing across several classes, including FO12, M200, Harpia, and TEC-9. Those extra names sit in the same release window. Garena's official notes confirm the four above by description, so treat the rest as likely but unannounced.

The bigger shift is the class rebalance. SMGs get faster and lose range. Shotguns become the flexible close-range option. Snipers and marksman rifles push further into their lanes. Your old muscle memory for which gun wins which fight is about to be wrong.

Water Horse and the New Mount Changes in OB55

Horses stop being a novelty in OB55. A Water Horse variant showed up in early gameplay, styled with a ghost-like water design, and horses get a speed boost across the board.

Why care about a mount? Rotations win matches. Getting from the zone edge to a contested airdrop before the other squad does is often the whole fight. A faster horse tightens that gap, and on big maps like Bermuda, the difference between arriving first and arriving second is usually a body count.

The Water Horse is cosmetic-plus, so treat it as a flavor pick rather than a competitive upgrade. The speed buff is the real change, and it applies to mounts generally.

Battle Royale: Havoc and Skill Cards in Free Fire OB55

Havoc is the biggest structural change here. It drops Skill Cards into standard Battle Royale, and the cards reshape your loadout mid-match.

Cards affect weapons, movement, defense, attributes, and abilities. Garena hasn't published the full card pool or the progression system, so the exact deck-building meta is still open. Early testing suggests you draft from a set of options rather than collecting random drops, which would put Havoc closer to a roguelite layer on top of BR than a simple perk system.

A separate mode, Reign of Chaos, also sits in the OB55 cycle. It centers on a King who swings matches through buffs, lightning, voting, hunts, and transformations. Think of it as the wackier sibling.

Both are worth a few matches on day one, mostly because they change the rhythm of a fight you've played a thousand times. Havoc especially rewards players who can read a card's value fast, not just players with the best aim.

Free Fire OB55 Naruto Return: Nine Tails, Hidden Leaf Village, and Jutsu

The Naruto Shippuden Chapter 1 collaboration is back, and it touches nearly every part of the game this time.

In Battle Royale, the Nine Tails can trigger one of three match-opening events that reshape the first few minutes of a game and force everyone into a different plan. It might bomb the plane and force an early eject for everyone, blast open the Arsenals on Bermuda so you loot high-tier gear without a key, or crater the ground with a pile of loot. Mid-match, a Sharingan: Control point appears. Capture it, pick a target zone, and the Nine Tails fires a Tailed Beast Bomb for 60 explosive damage inside a 100m radius. The blast leaves 8 to 10 flame spots behind.

Hidden Leaf Village returns as the default cabin on all maps, now with a Ninja Academy and a swing in front of it. Sit on the swing once and you keep a permanent 5% movement speed boost for the match. Revival Points also got a Reanimation Jutsu makeover: capture one and fallen teammates rise from stone coffins instead of parachuting in.

Then there are the jutsu cards themselves. You can pick up Fireball Jutsu, Water Dragon Jutsu, Great Breach, Rasengan, Chidori, Cherry Blossom Clash, and the new 8 Trigrams Palm Rotation, which throws up a spinning chakra shield for 2 seconds and deflects bullets. Chidori is the aggressive pick, dashing in for 70 damage and shutting off an enemy's Gloo Walls and minimap for 3 seconds.

Clash Squad gets the ninja treatment too. Shurikens replace pistols in round one, Ninjutsu Scroll Airdrops replace Cyber Airdrops, and you can buy ninjutsu and kunai straight from the CS Store.

Kenta Rework, Spider Drone, and New Grenades

Kenta's old kit couldn't keep up, so Garena rebuilt it. His new skill sends out a fast-moving tempest that passes through Gloo Walls, lasting 8 seconds and dealing 25 damage to anyone it touches. Tap the skill again while it's active and Kenta teleports to the tempest's position, gaining a 5-second shield with 20% damage reduction. Cooldown is 45 seconds.

That's a genuine repositioning tool, not just area denial. You can throw the tempest through cover to force enemies out, then blink into the space they leave, which turns a defensive hold into an aggressive push. It's the kind of kit that rewards players who think a step ahead.

A Spider Drone also appeared during testing as a new way to track or interact with enemies. New throwable concepts surfaced alongside it, including a sonar-style grenade and a lava-style grenade. The launch patch confirms two of them for Clash Squad: a Flame Grenade that creates a burning zone lasting 6 seconds and melts Gloo Walls every half second, and a Sonar Grenade that scans a 10m radius and reveals enemy positions for 3 seconds.

Halloween content rides the same update cycle. Expect themed visuals and items while OB55 is live.

OB55 Tips for Free Fire Players

A few things worth knowing before you queue.

    • Spend your first Naruto matches in Battle Royale, not Clash Squad. The jutsu cards and the Nine Tails events only appear in BR, and the Hidden Leaf Village cabin gives you free map knowledge before the plane even takes off.
    • Sit on the Ninja Academy swing early. That 5% movement speed boost lasts the whole match and costs nothing but a few seconds.
    • Don't build your loadout around the new weapons until October 1. They aren't in the standard pool yet, so practice them in the modes where they're available and keep a reliable backup gun.
    • Fight for the Sharingan: Control point when it spawns. A 60-damage bomb on a 100m radius is the single biggest momentum swing in a BR match right now.
    • Relearn your SMG muscle memory now. The October 1 rebalance cuts SMG range and boosts movement speed, so the fights you used to win at mid-range won't be winnable the same way.

OB55 Troubleshooting: Common Problems and Fixes

Update issues are common on day one, so here's what usually goes wrong.

    • The update won't download. Clear the store app cache and retry, or grab the newest build from APKPure. Old OB54 builds won't connect to the new servers.
    • Nine Tails events aren't showing up. The event triggers randomly, not every match. If you want to see it fast, play Bermuda, where two of the three event types are active.
    • Your jutsu card does nothing. Cards are pickups, not permanent unlocks. You have to find them in-match, and some only spawn in specific areas.
    • Kenta's teleport feels broken. The Tempest has to still be alive when you tap the second time, and it vanishes the moment you teleport. Re-tap too late and the skill just ends.
    • Frame rate drops in Hidden Leaf Village. The village is a dense area with extra props. Lower your graphics setting if you're on an older device, especially in squad modes with four players nearby.

One more thing on safety: sideloaded OB55 files from random forums are a common way to lose your account. Stick to the official update or a verified source, and check the app's permissions before you install.

What OB55 Means for Your Next Season

OB55 splits into two halves on purpose. The Naruto content gives you things to do right now, while the weapon rebalance and new guns reshape competitive play on October 1. Treat them as separate events, and you'll be ready for both instead of scrambling when the Clash Squad season flips.

The Naruto events are limited-time, so clear the Nine Tails objectives and grab the Hidden Leaf Village boost while they last. The rebalance is permanent, and it's worth practicing with the new recoil system before it hits the live servers.

Download Free Fire latest version from APKPure to make sure you're running the OB55 build, then head into Battle Royale to test the jutsu cards for yourself.
