MECCHA CHAMELEON is finally on Nintendo Switch 2. The paint-and-hide party game that exploded on Steam this summer made its console debut during the September 9, 2026 Nintendo Direct, and the port went live the same day. No wait. No vague release window. It's out now.

If you missed the story, here's the short version. MECCHA CHAMELEON turns hide-and-seek into an art contest. Hiders paint their plain white bodies to match a wall, a floor, or a shelf, then freeze in place and hope the hunters walk past. It caught on fast: 500,000 copies in two days, more than 20 million by mid-August.

    MECCHA CHAMELEON Standard Price

Developer lemorion_1224 confirmed the Switch 2 version is available right now, a same-day launch that caught plenty of people off guard. Nintendo followed with its own description of the game: players pose and paint themselves to blend into walls, furniture, and decor while a seeker team hunts them down.

Price is still up in the air.

    • Nintendo Switch 2: $4.79 ($5.99 starting September 16, 2026)

    • Steam: $5.99

There's also no word on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S. For now, the Switch 2 version joins Steam as the only two ways to play MECCHA CHAMELEON.

How the MECCHA CHAMELEON Hide and Seek Game Works

The loop is simple enough to sum up in one sentence: hiders blend in, hunters find them. What makes it stick is the drawing. You don't turn into a prop with a button press. You grab a brush, sample colors from whatever you're standing next to, and paint yourself to match. Then you pose. Pure chaos. A good disguise means nailing the color, the light angle, and the surface grain.

Hunters get a shotgun and a timer. They sweep each room for anything that feels wrong, a shadow that's too soft, a "prop" that's breathing. Matches support roughly ten players, with modes like Classic, Infection, and Double. It's the kind of game built for streamers, which is exactly how it got big in the first place.

Why MECCHA CHAMELEON Blew Up on Steam

The numbers are hard to believe for a game made by two people in about two months. MECCHA CHAMELEON launched on Steam on June 9, 2026. It hit 500,000 sales in two days, one million in four, and ten million in sixteen. By August 12, developer lemorion_1224 reported more than 20 million copies sold worldwide. Peak concurrent players on Steam reached around 340,000.

There was no marketing budget to speak of. The game spread through clips and streams, the kind of word-of-mouth hit that's rare even on Steam. Developers LEMORION and HAGANEIRO built it as a side project, reworking ideas from an earlier game, and it turned into one of the year's biggest indie stories.

Is There a MECCHA CHAMELEON APK or Mobile App?

No. MECCHA CHAMELEON doesn't have an official Android app. The real game lives on Steam and now on Nintendo Switch 2.

What the Nintendo Switch 2 Port Means

The Switch 2 version matters more than a typical port. The game's whole appeal is chaotic close-quarters fun, dropping into a room with friends or strangers and trying not to laugh while painted as a potted plant. A handheld fits that mood. It also puts the game in front of a huge audience that never touched it on PC.

Can it repeat the Steam surge? That's the real question. Console multiplayer lives or dies on matchmaking and server stability, and MECCHA CHAMELEON's online play leans heavily on the host's connection. That's the one thing to watch after launch. Still, for a game that became a hit on word of mouth alone, landing on Nintendo Switch 2 reads as a natural next step rather than a gamble.
