NIKKE Great Villain Union Update: Drake, Story Event, and Patch System Changes

Molly Reagan

NIKKE's Great Villain Union update brings SSR Drake: Great Villain, a new story event, raid rotations, and a lighter patch system that cuts future download sizes.

Goddess of Victory: NIKKE rolled out the Great Villain Union update on September 3, 2026, and it does two jobs at once. It hands Drake a powered-up SSR form and a full story event, then quietly rebuilds how the game patches itself.

Drake: Great Villain Leads the NIKKE September 2026 Update

The headline recruit is SSR Drake: Great Villain, the leader of the Villain Union, back in a form that leans harder on the character's running joke than on raw power creep. She's a Defender by class, but the kit is built so her attack scales off her own HP, which turns a defensive stat into an offensive one.

Her weapon is the shotgun Villain Night Carnival, her code is Wind, and she comes from Missilis Industry. On Burst, she lifts her own attack further and spreads damage across multiple enemies. That combination is the pitch: a unit who can eat hits and still punish crowds.

She arrives through Special Recruit, running from the end of the September 3 maintenance until September 17, 4:59:59 UTC+9. The pool gives you a 4% chance at any SSR Nikke and a 2% shot specifically at Drake: Great Villain. Gold Mileage Tickets you earn here don't vanish when the banner closes, and 200 of them buy her outright from the Mileage Shop. After this recruit ends, she moves into Ordinary Recruit, Social Point Recruit, and Mold drops in the following version.

If you're wondering whether to pull, the honest answer depends on your roster. She's a Wind-code Defender with built-in damage, so she slots into Wind-weak fights without asking for much support. Commanders already sitting on a stacked Wind team can wait for the mileage path. Newer accounts might want her simply because a self-sufficient defender smooths out early progression.

GREAT VILLAIN UNION Story Event: What You Actually Get

The event carrying the update shares its name with the patch. After her upgrade, Drake announces the New Villain Union and keeps up her small, absurd acts of villainy with the crew, right up until she finds a massive trail outside Reclamation Site 01. That discovery is what pushes the story from comedy into something heavier.

The structure is familiar if you've run NIKKE events before. Story stages feed you event items, and the Event Shop trades those items for Recruit Vouchers and skill enhancement materials. A Challenge Stage sits at the end for players who want tougher boss fights and better development drops.

Both the event and the shop close September 17 at 4:59:59 UTC+9, the same window as the Drake banner. A seven-day login track called DAILY EVIL DEED runs alongside it, handing out rewards for short daily sessions. Miss a few days, and you'll notice the gap in your event currency, so log in even when you're not planning to push stages.

Archives, Storyline, and Recurring NIKKE Modes

Beyond the new content, the patch reshuffles what's already there. The story event ARCANE ARCHIVE now lives in the Archives, and you collect Memory Films through the Great Villain Union event to open it up. That gives newer players a way to catch up on past story they skipped.

    • The current event also joins the Storyline menu, so you can replay its scenes later without rerunning the stages. It's the kind of housekeeping that doesn't get a trailer but does get used.
    • Then there's the rotating combat. Union Raid returns with five bosses spread across damage types: Laitance (Iron-weak), Tombstone (Water-weak), Modernia (Fire-weak), Rebuild Stout (Electric-weak), and Annihilio (Wind-weak), running September 4 to September 10. Modernia stands out for anyone chasing Fire-weak clears, while Annihilio rewards the same Wind units Drake belongs to.
    • The Co-Op Raid follows with Storm Bringer, an Iron-weak boss, live September 11 to September 13. Champion Arena moves to Beta Season 38. If you care about competitive placement, that's your season reset to plan around.

The New NIKKE Patch System Is the Real Update

NIKKE rebuilt its resource, patching, and data structure, and the transition forces one unusually large download: every player has to redownload all game patch data, but only this once.

So what does that buy you? After this patch, future updates should be smaller and faster to install. That's the trade. You eat a heavy download now to shrink every one after it.

    • The storage controls matter just as much. You can now delete data you don't use, and this is no longer mobile-only, so PC clients get the same options.
    • Textures and Models come in Standard and High quality; once both are downloaded, you can delete whichever quality you're not running, and switching prompts a reinstall of the one you pick.
    • Voice-over data works the same way. If you've downloaded English, Japanese, and Korean VO, you can strip the languages you don't listen to.

    Storage and Performance on Mobile

Make sure you have enough storage before updating NIKKE. The September 3 patch needs 17GB of free space, and a new install requires 22GB. Stay on official app stores, and keep the game open during downloads with a stable network. This update adds handy asset management tools, letting you shrink game size and run NIKKE on mid-range phones.

    • Reserve storage: 17GB for the Sep 3 patch; 22GB for a fresh installation
    • Do not close the game while downloading assets; use a stable internet connection
    • Only download from official sources to avoid security risks
    • New cleanup tools allow texture/voice pack removal to save space
    • Future patches will be smaller, supporting non-flagship mobile devices

Who Should Update NIKKE Right Away

Everyone actively playing should update now, because the mandatory patch gates access to the Drake banner, the Great Villain Union event, and every current raid. There's no version to sit on. Skip it, and you simply can't log in. That's not a choice most players get to make.

Drake: Great Villain is worth pulling for Wind-weak content and for players who like defenders that hit back. She won't redefine the meta on her own, and the mileage exchange gives patient Commanders an exit if the banner rolls badly. The event rewards expire with the same September 17 deadline, so collect them while they're live.

The patch system is the slow-burn win. One painful download now buys smaller updates and granular storage control going forward. That's the change that'll still be paying off when Drake's banner is a memory.

    Role Playing

    Role Playing

Great Villain Union is a story patch with a technical overhaul bolted to it, and both halves earn their place. Drake gives Wind teams a durable damage dealer, the event delivers its usual progression stack, and the repackaged download system trims the fat from every future NIKKE update.

Download GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE latest version from APKPure before the September 17 event deadline, and clear enough storage first so the redownload goes smoothly. Reading NIKKE patch notes like these is easy to skim past, but the storage changes alone will keep saving you space long after the villainy wraps up.
