Reverse 1999 Ver 3.7: New Characters

Reverse: 1999 doesn't do things by accident. Every character release ties into the main story, a side event, or is a narrative bridge between major arcs. Version 3.7 arrives after the events covered in 3.6, and the new characters will almost certainly connect to the current storyline.

The patch is expected to introduce three 6-star new arcanists, split across the version's two banner phases. Historically, Bluepoch runs each phase for roughly three weeks, with Phase 1 featuring a debut character and Phase 2 bringing another, often alongside a rerun. A new 5-star typically fills out the secondary slot on one of these banners.

Phase 1 Banner: The Headliner

The first-half banner usually carries the version's flagship character. In past updates like 3.5 and 3.6, the Phase 1 arcanist was tied directly to the main event story. Expect 3.7 to follow suit. Community speculation across Reddit and Discord suggests the debut 6-star will be a DPS or Sub-DPS unit in one of the under-represented afflatus categories.

Reverse: 1999 runs on six afflatus types: Mineral, Plant, Star, Beast, Spirit, and Intellect. Bluepoch has a habit of rotating which elements get attention. If 3.6 leaned toward Plant and Spirit, 3.7 might swing toward Star or Beast for its new additions. Don't be surprised to see a Mineral or Intellect banner rerun alongside the new face.

Phase 2 Banner: The Second Wave

Phase 2 tends to be harder to predict, but the pattern is clear. Sometimes it's another new 6-star with a different role: if Phase 1 was a DPS, Phase 2 might bring a dedicated healer or support. Other times it's a rerun of a popular limited character, giving newer players a shot at units they missed.

The Phase 2 banner in 3.7 will probably pair a new or returning 6-star with a new 5-star arcanist. The 5-star slot is where Bluepoch sometimes experiments with niche kits, characters that serve specific team compositions rather than being general-purpose picks. They're not always meta-defining, but they're often the most interesting to build around.
