Digital ID and integrated documents

Public services in one place

Beyond identification, VNeID connects you to core administrative services. Travel and transit support

For mobility, VNeID supports airport check-in through facial recognition linked to your verified profile. In addition, you can display Metro tickets in the app and use built-in check-in features to move through gates faster. Stored QR codes can be shown at checkpoints, and key codes remain available even when your device is offline.

Health and everyday payments

VNeID includes options to submit medical declarations and view e-prescriptions synced to your profile, which can be used to purchase medicine at participating counters. You can also pay vehicle registration, tuition, hospital fees, pensions, and subsidies with several methods such as QR payment, bank transfer, or supported e-wallets. This keeps routine payments tied to verified identity information for smoother processing.

Privacy and security controls

The app is developed under the National Population Data Center of Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security. It does not collect location data, and community participation for COVID-19 tracing remains anonymous. Your data is encrypted in transit, and you can request data deletion using available options in the app.

Before you install VNeID for Android

Registration is free. Some users report occasional lag, a spinning icon, or repeated VNeID login prompts during busy paperwork periods. If this happens, wait a moment and avoid closing the app, then try again when the network is more stable.

Level 2 verification, which adds higher assurance for services like banking information links, can take longer to complete. Submissions may need extra time during peak hours. Foreign users have also reported that new Temporary Residence Card details are not yet fully supported for in-app updates. If your TRC change is not reflected, wait for the next app update or seek help from local authorities.

When moving to a new phone, successful transfers have been reported by users. Some items that depend on the latest data structures, such as updated TRC formats, may still require the app to be updated before they appear correctly.

Get started with VNeID on Android

The steps below outline how to set up your eID and use common functions on your phone. If you plan to download VNeID for the first time, prepare your Citizen ID card and basic personal details in advance. A stable connection helps submissions process faster.

1. Install VNeID and open it, then choose your language and sign up with your phone number. Confirm the code you receive to create your account.
2. Start Level 1 verification and enter your personal information as shown on your Citizen ID. Save progress before switching screens to avoid resets and check each field carefully.
3. Proceed to Level 2 verification by scanning your Citizen ID and completing face capture as instructed. If review takes time, keep notifications on and check back during off-peak hours.
4. Scan the QR on your Citizen ID to auto-fill personal data in supported forms. Save your personal QR in the app so it is ready for inspection at checkpoints when needed.
5. Open the Services section to apply for residence procedures or a domestic passport, and add Metro tickets in the transit area. In Payments, link a bank method or e-wallet to pay fees such as tuition or hospital charges by QR or transfer.
